Roomscapes Wins Multiple 2018 EM NARI CotY Awards
More than 300 remodeling professionals gathered together on March 28, 2018 for the EM NARI Contractor of the Year Awards, Evening of Excellence at the Clarke showroom in Milford, MA. It was, once again, one of the highlights of the year for the team at Roomscapes Cabinetry and Design Center.
After enjoying hors d’ oeuvres while mingling with the region’s top design professionals, we moved in the test kitchen for the awards presentation program. Nearly 100 projects, in 23 categories, were submitted this year, and we were so honored to win in three of these divisions.
Gold: Residential Kitchen $50,000 – $100,000; Senior Designer Julie Lyons
After recently emptying their nest, Julie and her husband Michael downsized to a charming bungalow in a beach community. While the home was filled with vintage details, the kitchen had an awkward layout. Working with a “coastal elegance” concept in mind, Julie completely renovated the kitchen, introducing elements is warm gray tones to complement the natural beauty that surrounds their home. The new layout created an efficient work zone, something the former kitchen lacked. The remodeled kitchen now works as beautifully for everyday living as it does entertaining.
Gold: Residential Kitchen Over $150,000; Senior Designer Julie Lyons
This kitchen remodel was done as a portion of historic renovation of a ship captain’s home overlooking a harbor. The primary goal was to seamlessly integrate period-appropriate cabinetry with the existing historic details of the home. In addition to respecting the home’s historic pedigree, the homeowners, gourmet cooks who entertain frequently, also wanted a kitchen with maximum functionality. The new space is filled with exquisite details that beautifully complement the antique appeal of the surrounding rooms, and every available modern convenience. Sub-Zero refrigeration units disappear behind custom-made panels with antiqued-brass hardware. An ornate hood fan rests over a chef-grade range. Old meets new…beautifully.
Silver: Residential Bath $30,000 -$60,000; Design Director Judy Whalen
This master bath was originally used by just one person. It lacked enough space for a couple and its long, narrow layout felt chopped up. We expanded the footprint by capturing a few feet from the adjacent master bedroom and closet. The new bath now accommodates a free-standing soaking tub, his-and-hers vanities, a glass-enclosed shower, and a proper water closet. Newly added windows flood the formerly dark room with natural light. The end result is a spa-like haven of privacy, just as a master bath should be.
